De Vlaamse Uitgeversmaatschappij elected Uniway as its technical partner for the management of www.standaard.be. Uniway takes charge of all daily technical tasks (maintenance, troubleshooting) involved in managing a sizeable and dynamic site and an extensive backoffice application that enables the editorial staff to manage the site content autonomously.

Uniway has also developed the next version of the Standaard Online site, for which a 'paid content service' functionality needed to be implemented. Functionalities include : authentication, registration, purchase, authorisation, PDF newspaper, dynamic categorisation, multi stylesheet,… The online sales of newspaper subscriptions and access to the paid content section of the site is implemented using Ogone technology.

The news portal exchanges news items with MSN Belgium, Telenet..., but itself also receives content such as stock exchange news, TV programme guide, weather forecast, sports news etc from third parties.

The content is presented on different platforms: PDF, PDA, I-mode, discussion fora, personalised news mailing etc.

www.standaard.be won several awards over the past few years and spends tremendous effort to stay at the forefront of online journalism. The revamping that took place in September 2005, focused especially on usability issues.
